Chakras

According to East Indian philosophy, we possess seven major Chakras or psychic centers on the body. Each of these forms a bridge, link, or energy transformer; changing pure (higher) energy into various forms, and connecting the four bodies (spiritual, mental, astral, and physical) together. The chakras are located along the nadies (a network of psychic nerves or channels) and follow the autonomic nervous system along the spinal cord.

Chakras correlate with major acupuncture points along the 'governing vessel meridian' (acupuncture term). The seven major chakras are connected together by three major nadies which are parallel and near each other. The middle nadi is called sushumna and it has neutral characteristics. The nadi on the left (ie. nearest your left hand) is the ida nadi which has yin characteristics. On the other side of sushumna (nearest your right hand) is the pingala nadi, having yang qualities.

Chakras are visible to clairvoyant sight as variously colored rotating circles or funnels. In the East they are described as petaled flowers or lotuses. While in Western Shamanism they are divined as Spirit Tunnels.

There are many minor chakras throughout the body but in this writing we will focus on the primary seven as the others are beyond the scope of this discussion. Each chakra has a color and sound letter and a pitch associated with it which can be used to invoke it.

Chakra Locations and Associations

Root Chakra:
Located at the base of the spine at the perineum, it primarily relates to the element of earth and to psychic smell. It is a very bright shade of red and you can chant "oohm" in tone C while focusing on this area.

Sexual Chakra:
Located above and behind the genitals. Its dominant element is water, and it is related to psychic taste. It is a clear shade of orange. You can chant "ohm" in tone D for this one.

Solar Plexus:
Located at the navel and corresponding with the emotions and the element of fire and also psychic sight (clairvoyance). It is a bright sunny yellow color. Chant "ahm" in tone E for this one.

Heart Chakra:
Located over the heart and corresponding with the element of air and psychic touch. Visualize a bright green or a bright pink. Both are seen as the color of this chakra. Chant "ah" in tone F for this one.

Throat Chakra:
Located at the base of the throat (thyroid) and corresponding with psychic hearing (clairaudience.) A light shade of blue, you can chant "ehm" in tone G for this one.

Third Eye:
Is located between and slightly above the eyebrows. This chakra is the center of psychic powers and can produce many psychic effects. Meditation on this chakra is said to cure nervousness. A transparent indigo blue in color, you can chant "eem" in tone A for this one.

Crown Chakra:
Located atop the head, (pineal gland) is the seventh chakra. It is referred to as the thousand-petaled lotus and corresponds with astral projection and enlightenment. Violet or white are both seen as the color of this chakra.

Auras and their Colors

The energy field around the body is commonly referred to as the aura. Some people are born with the gift of seeing this field. Some choose to turn this gift off as they grow up. Our culture is not very supportive of things it doesn't understand. Most of us are left with trying to re-develop this ability as adults.  It is much harder, but can be accomplished.

As we begin to meditate and move away from our "ego" these types of gifts will often spontaneously return to us.  When we visualize auras, everyone sees something different.  Some people see only a white light or a blue outline around people.  Others are able to see actual colors.

When trying to learn about aura color meaning, start with the basic understanding about colors.  You can use this section about aura color meaning as your guide.  They will, at the very least, provide a jumping off point for you.

Yellow:
Clarity for decision-making, relief from 'burnout', panic, nervousness, exhaustion, sharper memory and concentration skills, protection from lethargy and depression, ability to express yourself.

Red:
Increased enthusiasm and interest, confidence, strengthen the body, promote will power and courage, overcome sexual dysfunctions, speed, masculinity, sports, competition, conflicts, sexual attraction and potency.

Purple:
Re-balance your life, remove obstacles, Calm over-activity or to energize from depression, meditation, sharpen psychic awareness, connection with higher self, increase imagination and inspiration, divination, spiritual power, astral projection, third eye.

White:
Clear clutter and obstacles away, fresh beginning, mental clarity, purification of thoughts or actions, meditation, truth seeking, spiritual enlightenment, summoning spirit guides, astral travel, and to enhance psychic abilities.

Green:
Balance, change or growth, attract money, prosperity and wealth, fertility, healthy relationships, ambition and success, bringer of love and renewal, emotional soother, counteract greed and jealousy.

Brown:
To promote wholesome feeling, to blend with the background, promotes a connection with natural earth and the stability this brings, a grounding force, orderliness and convention, clear thinking, emotional stability and balance.

Pink:
Calm feelings, neutralize disorder, relaxation, acceptance, contentment, love, self-worth, protection from violence or aggression, stimulate love and beauty, anxiety and depression, ailments of the heart.

Silver:
Female energy, cycles, rebirth, reincarnation, healing of hormonal, imbalances, emotional stability, remove or neutralize negativity, intuition, dreams, psychic abilities and psychic workings, working with moon energies.

Gold:
Increased personal power, relaxation and enjoyment of life, good health, success, God energy, male energy, self-confidence, abundance, financial success, worldly power, overcoming habits.

Blue:
Soothes and relaxes, obtain wisdom, tranquility, harmony, peace, Inner light and truth, Occult power and protection, good health, patience, sincerity, devotion, prophetic dreams, loyalty, meditation as it connects to intellect and mind, opens the flow of communication.

Black:
To become inconspicuous, To prepare for the unknown, self-control and resilience, protective energies, repel and banish evil and negativity, protection, breaking free from bad habits and addictions, deep meditation, opens up deep unconscious levels.

Orange:
Charm, kindness, encouragement and optimism, stimulation, success, achieving business goals, success, legal matters, vitality with endurance, levity.

Candle  Correspondence

Candles have long been used in association with magick and witchcraft, as indeed they have been adopted and used by many other religions for spiritual communication. Candle magick is probably the oldest and simplest form of ritual magick still performed today.  Ever since fire was discovered, the naked flame has been regarded as sacred.  In ancient times they used to light torches to invoke the Goddess and Gods. Today we symbolize those acts by utilizing candles.  The naked flame remains the finest and easiest means of focusing in on power and energy.

The use of differently colored candles symbolizes the nature of intent and ultimately the outcome of a particular spell.  Colored candles are therefore used to pinpoint our focus on a particular deity or planetary association.  We need to understand the color properties and other associations of candles to make magick work.

Below is a list of candles and their associations:

Black: Are used for Banishing evil or negativity as in uncrossing rituals, Crone Magic, Mourning a loss, Meditation, Feminine Divinity, Samhain.  Also used in rituals to induce a deep meditational state.  This candle attracts Saturn energy.

Light Blue: Is a spiritual colour and is helpful in devotional or inspirational meditations.  It brings peace and tranquillity to the home and radiates Aquarius energy.  Use in situations that need to be synthesized.

Royal Blue: Is the colour of Loyalty and is used to promote Laughter and Joviality.  Use it to promote Jupiter energy and whenever an influence needs to be increased.

Blue: Is symbolic of the spirits of the West, and the elements of Water.  It is used in rituals to obtain Wisdom, Peace, Healing, Tranquillity, Truth, Sleep, Prophetic Dreams, Friendship, Physical Protection and Hope.

Brown: Is symbolic of the spirits of the North, and the elements Earth.  It is used for rituals involving Animal Magic and the Home in regards to Material Increase.  It eliminates Indecisiveness and improves the Powers of Concentration, Study and Telepathy.  Use it also for increasing Financial Success and for locating Lost Objects.  

Gold: Fosters understanding and attracts the power of cosmic influences.  Use it in rites intended to bring about fast luck or money.  When communicating with Solar Deities and for honouring the Gods.  This candle generates solar energy.

Grey: Is a neutral colour and is useful when pondering complex issues during meditation.  In magic, this colour often sparks confusion.  It also negates and/or neutralizes a negative influence.

Emerald Green: This candle is important in Venusian rituals.  It attracts Love, Social Delights and Fertility.

Dark Green: Are used for Beauty, Employment, Fertility, Healing, Success, Good Luck, Prosperity, Heart Matters, Money and Masculine Divinity.  Being the colour of Ambition, Greed and Jealousy, it can be used to counteract these influences in a ritual.

Orange: Are used for Creativity, Attraction, Stimulating Energy, Legal Matters, Success, New Home, Intelligence and Mental Clarity.  It charges and recharges the intellect and combines with any other candles to stimulate their actions.  Use for rituals stipulating Mercury energy, and sometimes-solar energy.  Also used during Samhain.

Pink: Promotes Romance and Friendship, and is the standard colour used for rituals to draw affections.  It is used for Love, Honour, Friendship and Fidelity.  A colour of femininity, it brings lively conversation to the dinner table.

Purple: Are used for Psychic Ability, Wisdom, Spirituality, Success, Independence, Spiritual Growth, Power, Healing and the Feminine Divine.  Ideal for rituals to secure Ambitions and Financial Rewards.  Increases Neptune energy.

Red: Is symbolic of the spirits of the South, and the elements of Fire.  It is used for Strength, Courage, Power, Passion, Health, Energy, Vitality, Love and Will Power.  It increases magnetism in rituals and draws on Aries and Scorpio energy.

Silver: Is used to remove Negativity, encourage Stability and helps to develop Psychic abilities.  Use for Protection, Honouring the Goddess, Telepathy and Clairvoyance.  This candle attracts the influence of the Goddess.

White: Is a balance of all colours and is used for Meditation, Healing, Truth Seeking, Peace, Spiritual Strength and Enlightenment, Rituals involving "Lunar" energy, Purity, Protection, Happiness, Masculine Divinity, and may be substituted for any other colours. 

Yellow: Is symbolic of the spirits of the East, and the elements of Air.  It is used for Charms, Confidence, Attraction, Wisdom, Visions, Psychic Powers, Mental Powers, Activity, Creativity and Unity.  Use it to bring the power of concentration and imagination to the success of a ritual.  Also used in rituals where you need to gain someone's confidence or need to persuade someone.  This candle generates solar energy.

Magenta: Is a combination of Red and Violet that oscillates on a high frequency.  It energizes rituals where immediate action is needed, or high levels of power and spiritual healing are required.

Indigo: Is the colour of inertia.  It is used to stop situations or people’s intentions.  Use it in rituals that require deep meditation and rituals that require Saturn energy.
